January 2016, Mayflex, the cabling infrastructure, networking and electronic security solutions distributor, will demonstrate its latest IP Security portfolio at Intersec 2016 in Dubai. The company is at the forefront of the distribution of innovative IP-based Electronic Security Solutions, with a focus on product performance and customer support and will be exhibiting a comprehensive range of innovative solutions that drive customer empowerment and offer incredible advantages over the rapidly declining coax based analogue systems of the past.
“This is our heritage and positions Mayflex uniquely as the obvious and most capable partner for integrators wishing to take advantage of the growth opportunities offered by this market,” said Ross McLetchie, Director of Sales, MEA, Mayflex.
From January 17-19 at Sheikh Saeed Hall 1, Stand A46 (S1-A46) at Dubai World Trade Centre, Mayflex will demonstrate its extensive portfolio of:
- CCTV Cameras: ACTi, Avigilon and MOBOTIX
- VMS: Avigilon and MOBOTIX and Wavestore
- Storage: BCDVideo, Overland and Veracity
- Lighting Solutions: Raytec
- Access Control: Avigilon and Paxton
- Infrastructure: Excel
As part of the IP-based security solutions being officially launched at Intersec, industry-leading software Wavestore, Winner of two Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, delivers a host of powerful video, data and audio management and recording benefits to new or existing security systems. Sitting at the heart of an electronic security solution, Wavestore’s truly independent, open platform Video Management Software (VMS) enables organisations to unlock the full potential of an integrated solution and maximise return on investment.
Wavestore’s open platform Video Management Software (VMS) offers so much more than just industry leading video and recording management. As well as bringing together audio, data and video, including images from the very latest ultra-high definition and 360° fish eye cameras, Wavestore provides a platform that makes integration between disparate third-party technologies simple.
“Wavestore VMS unlocks a host of business intelligence and operational benefits and enables the deployment of technology such as intelligent video analytics, whilst augmenting often ‘dumb’ systems with video and ease of control to create a much more powerful and effective total security solution. The great thing about Wavestore is that it integrates with all of our current security products, is open platform, good scalability and has no recurring annual licences costs,” said Ross McLetchie, Director of Sales, MEA, Mayflex.
With a simple ‘buy-once’ licence model you are able to purchase the number of channels required, change cameras as often as you like, easily add additional licenses as your system grows; or upgrade to the next level of software – all managed via licence key so there’s never a need to reinstall software.
Ross concluded “Visitors to the Mayflex stand, A46, will be able to see Wavestore together with all over the vendors highlighted above and discuss their requirements with our experienced team of experts.”
September 2015, Mayflex the distributor of Converged IP Solutions, has signed an agreement to represent Edgecore Networks in the UK and UAE.
Edgecore Networks Corporation, a subsidiary of the leading network ODM Accton Technology Corporation, is a networking solution vendor delivering a range of wired and wireless Ethernet networking equipment solutions through partners around the world. The company’s products are sold under two brand names, Edgecore Networks servicing the data center, building management LAN, enterprise and telecom markets, together with SMC which targets home, retail and SME markets. Mayflex will offer both product sets to its customers.
Tracey Calcutt, Marketing Manager at Mayflex commented, “Edgecore Networks offers a broad product portfolio spanning 100G/40G/10G/1G switches, from desk top through to open network products aimed at the growing SDN market, together with standalone and controller based wireless systems. We are excited at the opportunities this announcement presents to Mayflex and its customers. The market for ‘legacy’ design rack mount switches is changing; the devices these units connect are now as likely to be part of a Building Management Network, as they are a corporate LAN. We see huge opportunities for our customer to design in Edgecore products to connect camera’s, access control, AV, heating, power control, and many other building management products in a cost effective, profitable and reliable way.
Tracey added, ‘ The open network products is great strength of Edgecore Networks, and will complement the recently announced launch of the Big Switch Networks range, as we target the growing SDN market place.’
Łukasz Łukowski, Director Sales, Europe at Edgecore Networks commented, “We are delighted to have Mayflex as our distributor in the UK and UAE, and are looking forward to supporting Mayflex and its customers with the most cost-effective and easily managed network solutions. Our product range is extensive, we design products to support high performance, high availability networks across a range of verticals from the smallest of offices to the most demanding of ultra scale data centers.’
Mayflex will launch the Edgecore Networks solutions in early October, when pricing, warranty and product details will be made available. To register and be amongst the first to review this information, please email networksales@mayflex.com.

Mayflex, the distributor of Converged IP Solutions including cabling infrastructure, networking and electronic security solutions has signed an agreement to increase exposure of Philips’ innovative connected lighting system for offices to building IT system integrators in the UK. The connected lighting system from Philips uses Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) to connect office lighting fixtures to a building’s IT network and interface with other building systems such as heating, ventilation and IT services . The lighting system acts as an information pathway, enabling workers to control and access other building services via their smartphones, allowing them to enjoy greater visual comfort and productivity.
Philips’ connected lighting system is based on the understanding that customers are looking to achieve energy savings but also increased control and optimisation of the workplace. Philips’ connected lighting proposition, where every light point is a pathway for information, offers high quality, reliable and energy-efficient illumination and enables building users to understand usage of their space to enhance the comfort of occupants and improve building efficiency. Using standards-based PoE-enabled fixtures also delivers significant cost savings on lighting installation as there is no need for expensive electrical wiring, reducing installation costs by up to 25%.
Andrew Percival, Mayflex Managing Director commented ‘This a really exciting announcement for Mayflex, our strategy to offer customers the best in Converged IP Solutions is clearly underlined by the partnership we are forming with Philips. The desire to add lighting to modern, networked buildings across vertical markets of all types and sizes is significant, to date there has not been a solution that ticks as many boxes as the Connected Light offering. With connectivity via a standard twisted pair cable directly into industry standard POE switches, multiple sensors, and open API for interfacing with third party or bespoke applications, all from the global leader in lighting, we believe this is a game changer.’
Andrew continued ‘When we look back at the transition from coax to twisted pair based security systems, the pace of change in the market went up a couple of gears when the market leading vendors released systems. We believe in a few years time the market will look back at this launch and see it as the point where POE, networked managed lighting became a serious consideration for many businesses.’
Mayflex sales and support teams will be receiving details of the connected lighting system for offices this month and demonstration systems will be installed in Mayflex MTech facilities. Moving forward Mayflex will be working closely with the Philips lighting end user sales team.
