Excel Networking Solutions’ Paul Cave will be hosting the first series of Excel Passive Optical Network Training Courses, which will aim to introduce Passive Optical LAN with both informative and practical hands-on elements.

The training courses come shortly after the copper and optical cabling provider launched their PON Solution, a comprehensive selection of PON solutions, delivering fibre to a range of environments across FTTx and POL network infrastructure systems.  Passive Optical Network (PON) is an umbrella industry term for fibre-based access networking architecture that is designed for both residential environments (FTTx) and enterprise environments (POL). Regardless of the size of the building, the Excel range of PON products offers numerous options in fibre connectivity and distribution and the training courses aim to support designers, consultants and engineers to design and install the PON Solution efficiently.

Speaking of the events, Paul Cave, Excel Technical Pre-Sales Manager commented, “These training courses will cover an introduction to Passive Optical LAN along with a practical design exercise, to equip attendees with the knowledge and skills to be able to design and install a PON system in the most efficient manner.”

Paul continued, “The course material has been adapted from the APOLAN training course, and as such offers an APOLAN accreditation to those who successfully complete the two-day course.”

Paul Mills, Excel’s Director of Sales for North America, was recently elected as the APOLAN Chairman to continue to share his expertise to further generate market opportunity for fibre-based networks in the American market. Paul Cave has also been elected onto the APOLAN committee, representing Excel and their leadership within the Passive Optical LAN field.

Paul concluded, “The initial training courses are free of charge and will be taking place in Birmingham, London and Glasgow in March and April 2019.”

The Excel PON Solution will also be featured at the upcoming Excel Partner Briefings, which commence in Birmingham on February 26th 2019, with further events in Manchester, Glasgow and London.  The complete product set will be available to view at the mini-exhibition at each of the events, and a team of Excel product specialists will be on hand to discuss various options.

Mayflex, the distributor of Converged IP Solutions, announces it has formed a distribution agreement with Global Invacom. The deal will see Mayflex and Global Invacom targeting Multi-Dwelling Unit projects by liaising with System Integrators, Consultants and End Users.

Global Invacom, the global provider of satellite communications equipment, specialises in Fibre Integrated Reception System (“FibreIRS”), delivering Satellite TV reception. Global Invacom’s vision is to increase the awareness of the advantages of FibreIRS and to work alongside Mayflex to help specify FibreIRS alongside cabling, data and CCTV Security.

Aaron Ghera, Sales Manager at Global Invacom, commented on the alliance: “Having seen interest from a number of organisations, we’re delighted to form a distribution agreement with Mayflex, who we believe have the resources, industry knowledge and proficiency to support our strategies.”

He continued, “Our plan is to minimise the amount of contacts required for a single project. For instance, rather than approaching four different supplies for your data, security, cabling and Satellite TV, Mayflex will supply all four services from one point of contact. By providing an integrated system solution, we can add more value to our customers and develop relationships that will see similar integrated systems across the UK.”

Ross McLetchie, Sales Director, commented, “I am delighted to welcome Global Invacom on board with Mayflex. Incorporating this brand into our existing product portfolio will open up a host of new customer opportunities.”

Ross continued, “It is an exciting start to the year for Mayflex, as this agreement comes just shortly after the launch of Excel’s new Passive Optical Networks (PON) Solution.”

Similar in concept to PON infrastructure, FibreIRS technology is a new method of carrying satellite signals via fibre rather than coax. There are various advantages of using fibre such as reduction in signal loss, increased distance capacity, scalability and improved cost efficacy.

Ross concluded, “New customers to Mayflex can be assured of a first rate, knowledgeable team of sales and technical personnel. Partners will be provided with dedicated account management and the support needed to ensure the correct solution is specified and delivered on a project by project basis. I am confident that Excel’s new PON Solution and the Global Invacom range will become a staple part of our product portfolio and look forward to working with all parties involved.”

The FibreIRS technology itself was developed and manufactured by Global Invacom with the intention of revolutionising the satellite tv market. Over the years we’ve seen the development of similar products throughout the industry, however Global Invacom is determined to be at the forefront of the satellite industry and Mayflex are enthusiastic to support this drive.

The range of Global Invacom products will be widely available to purchase from Mayflex from February 2019. Global Invacom will also be sponsoring the upcoming Excel Partner Briefing events, taking place across the country in Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and London. There will be presentations on both the Excel PON Solution and Global Invacom’s FibreIRS Technology, as well as representatives available in the exhibition areas to discuss any requirements. Visit www.mayflex.com for further details or speak to the sales team on 0800 75 75 65.

Excel Networking Solutions is running their annual series of Partner Briefings this month and next. Presentations and a mini-exhibition will be held across the country in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow.

The Excel Partner Briefings are designed to keep Excel Partners and Consultants up to date on all the developments to the Excel Structured Cabling System – an important event for those who sell and support the Excel solution.

This year, Excel will be showcasing their recently launched Passive Optical Network (PON) Solution, with the new product range available to view during the mini-exhibition.  The events intend to bring attendees up to speed on the latest technology in Passive Optical infrastructure, as well as to inform Excel partners of the most recent updates to industry standards and regulations, particularly surrounding the Construction Products Regulation and the BS6701:A1. Furthermore, Excel’s Digital Marketing Manager, Luke Carthy, will be discussing his ten best practices for web optimisation alongside his team’s development plans for the Mayflex and Excel websites in 2019. The events will be educational and informative and will provide Excel’s partners with the knowledge and tools to help sell and support Excel.

Speaking of the previous series of events, Tracey Calcutt, Marketing Manager, commented, “We received fantastic feedback from our partners who attended the events in Autumn 2017, demonstrating the success of the events and their provision of insightful, accurate information and updates.”

Tracey continued, “So far we have received a great response to all four events, with a record number of registrations across the board.”

Speaking with some of the attendees, an Excel partner commented, “The presentations were interesting and it was helpful to see complementary topics added to the portfolio that are directly “Excel/Mayflex” related but that also affect the supply chain and industry. Each element of the roadshow was factual and concise.”

Another commented, “The Excel Partner Briefings were a useful reminder of the sales tools, collateral and technical support available from Excel”.

Tracey continued, “We will have a selection of the latest Excel products on show and there will also be representatives from the Excel team available to discuss the latest solutions for your upcoming projects.”

February 2019 Mayflex the distributor of Converged IP Solutions has introduced 6 dedicated parking bays with EV pod point charging stations for staff and visitors to utilise to charge their vehicles. Many of the company fleet car owners have or are making the switch to a hybrid vehicle in a move to become more environmentally friendly.

Andy Cooper, Chief Operations Officer at Mayflex comments, “This is one of the many initiatives introduced by Mayflex to work towards improving the company’s sustainability rating and ISO Accreditations, whilst also helping to reduce the cost of running the company fleet. More of our company car owners are opting for electric, meaning the installation of pod points was something that became a requirement that the business could not afford to ignore.”

Andy continues, “The charging points are situated in a dedicated area of the existing staff and visitor car park and are clearly visible for visitors to Mayflex to locate.”

The pod point cloud platform makes it incredibly easy to manage access to the Mayflex network and report on energy usage or CO2 saved.

21st January 2019, Excel Networking Solutions, the infrastructure provider that offers Copper and Optical Fibre, Pre-Terminated Solutions, Racks, PDUs and a comprehensive suite of accessories, is excited to announce that they are now offering a broad range of high-quality, high-performance Passive Optical Network (PON) Solutions suitable for both the residential and enterprise environments.

Neil Payne, Excel Product Manager, commented, “We are delighted to be able to launch our comprehensive Passive Optical Network Solution, a great quality and innovative solution to efficiently deliver FTTx solutions, complemented by our existing range of copper, fibre and racking solutions.”

In addition to Excel’s extensive portfolio, the new selection of passive optical components offers a complete end-to-end solution in passive optical infrastructure. Excel’s range of Splitters, Panels and Modules allow for flexibility in the use of rack space and provide the opportunity to expand the network in the future. Their portfolio of Outlets and Adaptors have been designed to accommodate the delivery of FTTx solutions, with options to deliver fibre optical services directly to the desk or the home. Complete with a selection of Floor Distribution Boxes and Exterior Splice Enclosures that are scalable to suit a wide range of applications, as well as an additional four Environ Enclosures that have been specifically designed with a confined space in mind, the Excel PON Solution is designed for a multitude of installation environments which demand the delivery of high speed fibre optical connectivity.

Payne continued, “Our range of Environ Enclosures have been designed specifically for a PON infrastructure solution. Offering consolidated points of connection that will fit into utility spaces and cable routes, removing the need for additional space to be allocated throughout the building infrastructure, such as Secondary Equipment Rooms (SERs). This allows for a more cost-effective use of space, helping to create considerable CapEx savings for our customers and end users.”

In addition to providing cost- and space-saving benefits, the Excel PON Solution offers users a host of additional advantages, including increased energy efficiency due to the reduced cooling and power requirements in the mid-span of the network, as well as easier network management and increased system security.

From the equipment room to the work area, the Excel PON Solution offers high reliability and low cost of ownership. With fewer physical components than a traditional LAN topology providing higher bandwidth over long distances, the result is an efficient network that can benefit any application.

Payne concluded, “As with the existing portfolio of Excel products, our Passive Optical Network Solution is covered by the Excel 25-Year Warranty when installed by an accredited Excel Partner, providing customers and end users with further peace of mind.”

The Excel Partner Briefings are taking place across the country (Birmingham, London, Manchester and Glasgow) in February and March 2019.
