My Level One GEP-2450 switch keeps showing a red led status light on the front of the switch - Is the switch faulty?

No, the switch is not faulty. The red light does not affect the performance of the switch.
Please go to the following link on the Level One website and upgrade the firmware on the switch. This upgrade will change the parameters within the switch and stop the red light from illuminating
